Creative Unit

The Creative Unit

Symmetrical Patterns

Vertical Strips

Circle Rotation

Hand Colored

Image Overlay with Text

Texture Screen

Double Exposure

This unity has been by far my favorite this year. I do wished we had more time to do this unit, it felt rushed. I was fun being able to learn and explore photoshop and all that it has to offer. I wasn't able to finish my hand color photograph because all the detail it involves. My favorite by far would be Double Exposure, I think it looks so abstract and weird, I love it. I think this was a nice unit to have at the end of the year but I do wished we had more time. Overall I enjoyed Photography Class this year and can't wait for advanced next year!

* Lyrics -How long before I get in?
Before it starts, before I begin?
How long before you decide?
Before I know what it feels like?
Where To, where do I go?
If you never try, then you'll never know
How long do I have to climb,
Up on the side of this mountain of mine?
Look up, I look up at night
Planets are moving at the speed of light
Climb up, up in the trees
Every chance that you get
Is a chance you seize
How long am I gonna stand
With my head stuck under the sand?
I'll start before I can stop
Before I see things the right way up
All that noise, and all that sound
All those places I have found
And birds go flying at the speed of sound
To show you how it all began
Birds came flying from the underground
If you could see it then you'd understand?
Ideas that you'll never find
All the inventors could never design
The buildings that you put up
Japan and China all lit up
The sign that I couldn't read
Or a light that I couldn't see
Some things you have to believe
But others are puzzles, puzzling me
All that noise, and all that sound
All those places I have found
And birds go flying at the speed of sound
To show you how it all began
Birds came flying from the underground
If you could see it then you'd understand
Ah when you see it then you'll understand?
All those signs, I knew what they meant
Some things you can invent
Some get made, and some get sent
Oh
Birds go flying at the speed of sound
To show you how it all began
Birds came flying from the underground
If you could see it then you'd understand
Ah, when you see it then you'll understand?

I never knew that there were so many ways to take motion shots until this assignment. This assignment also taught me that you if you're creative with what you have, you can get some really neat shoots. I enjoyed working with a group and being able to bounce ideas off of each other and still being able to take shots outside of school. My favorite shoots to take were the writing with light even though those took a lot of creativity. This was probably one of my favorite assignments and I learned a lot of new techniques for future photographs.

Writing with Light Group Experiment

Lisa Montgomery
Lizzie Harrison

Photograph 1

 Photograph 2

I thought this type of shooting motion was a lot of fun. Writing with light is great way to be personal and creative with your photographs. The only suggestion I have would be, to have more time taking/experimenting with the assignment.

Lighting Final

Existing Side Lighting

Artificial Split Lighting

Natural Direct Light

This person is important to me because she is my mom and has been with me since day one. She does what moms do best and then some. With a divorced family situation she is able to put me first with the situation and how it will be beneficial to me, which takes a lot for a person to do. I was able to show her personality by using outside lighting because she loved the outdoors, even having her in the kitchen while wearing an apron because she loves to cook and read cookbooks like crazy. This unit has changed my photography, I used to just take a photo wherever no matter what the lighting situation was. Now I look around and think twice on where I can find the lighting to set the right mood.

Silhouettes

Solid

Gradient

Pattern

Shapes

  • What are your thoughts about this non-traditional way of taking silhouette shots?
I enjoyed take the silhouettes this way it was different and like nothing else I did before, it was a very interesting thing to learn.
  • Do you enjoy what Photoshop has to offer in terms of layers?
Yes, I never knew photoshop had so may creative options available.
  • What are your thoughts of the outcomes?
I would want to focus on making sure my shots are in focus before getting into the editing process, so I don't have to go back and take more and be behind. I also would want to do it all again now that I know what I'm doing.

What I learned about lighting:
I learned that lighting is a very important part in a photograph in setting a mood or tone to the photo. Also different lights can be placed at different angles and that can change the whole look of the photo along with the intensity of the light. The lights are able to show the importance of a part of the  face and help show the feelings of the model.

What if I did the project again:
I would say take my time more with each shot. I was behind due to missing a day so after that I rushed all the rest of my shots and when I did take my time I LOVED how those photos turned out.
